Halloween in Montreal: The Pop Culture Underworld of The St-James Theatre
Picture a beautiful space of neoclassical architecture in Old Montreal, in the lavish downstairs of the St-James Theatre…
With preserved marble flooring, safety vaults, copper gateways, and royal architectural accents.
Formerly know as the Canadian Bank of Commerce, which serviced the White Star Line that sold tickets for Titanic between 1909 to 1939, and Prior to this, L’édifice Temple from 1889 to 1890 and St. James Church from 1845 to 1888.
Well, completely transformed into a colorful pop culture dynamic with dark and kinky corners. Just like the good old days of pop!
Here’s The Story.
Once upon a time in an old yet lavish space downtown New York known as ‘’the factory’’, a hip hang out for free-thinkers, rebels, celebrities, and the artistic type, resided an American artist who emerged as a leading icon in the visual art movement of the 1960’s. The pop-art movement as we know it.
Pop-art reflected on celebrity culture and advertising that bloomed at that time. For those who knew Andy Warhol, the artist, knew that he practically lived in this factory of his, spending most of his time entertaining a lifestyle of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll, and producing art with muses and moguls for which he obsessed over.
INSPIRED BY THE GREAT ANDY WARHOL. For this special edition of The Monde osé HALLOWEEN BALL, relive the tragedy and fame of ”the factory” underworld.
